Luke Farley sworn-in as NC's 20th Labor Commissioner

RALEIGH, NC – Today, Luke Farley was officially sworn in as the 20th Labor Commissioner of North Carolina, beginning his tenure as the state’s leading advocate for worker safety, fair employment practices, and economic development. A North Carolina native, devoted family man, and workplace safety attorney with over 14 years of experience, Commissioner Farley brings a wealth of expertise and passion to the role.


“I am honored to serve the hardworking men and women of North Carolina,” said Commissioner Farley during his swearing-in ceremony, “My mission is clear: to keep our workers safe, healthy, and employed while fostering a thriving environment for businesses to grow and succeed.”


A champion of tailored, common-sense safety regulations, Commissioner Farley has committed to filling critical safety inspector vacancies within the North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL), advocating for policies that help attract top talent, and partnering with job creators and workers to cultivate a culture of safety across the state. His focus will include addressing workplace hazards, streamlining regulations, and ensuring businesses have the tools they need to succeed in protecting workers.


Farley also emphasized the importance of collaboration with the General Assembly, stating, “By working together, we can make North Carolina the safest place to work and the best place to do business.”


Farley was endorsed by former Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry, Commissioner Josh Dobson, and a broad coalition of labor organizations and statewide leaders, underscoring his commitment to finding solutions that uplift both workers and job creators.
